Chalet Família Vidal

The Vidal Family Chalet is located in Ferreira Tavares Square, in the city center. The architectural work is simple in its design but captivating, with an elegant development of lines standing out in the advanced body, where a set of three windows framed in granite carving is highlighted. This Chalet is believed to have been designed by Viriato Vidal. The paintings, which can be seen on the facade of the recessed body, were originally painted with a theme of flowers and water lilies where white geese moved; however, it was repainted in 1991, without the original strength.

Paisagem de Bocage

Next to the Pateira de Frossos area, a vast zone of the so-called "Bocage" landscape unfolds, limited to the northwest by the municipality of Murtosa. This landscape is characterized by the division of the rural space into small agricultural "plots" delimited by hedges of various tree species like Willows (Salix sp.), Alders (Alnus glutinosa), and Oaks (Quercus robur), and shrub species, like Elderberries (Sambucus nigra), as well as by ditches that may or may not carry water. What makes the Bocage so special in ecological terms is its multiplicity of habitats: the fact that agricultural, forest, and aquatic spaces exist in the same place provides living beings with a variety of environmental conditions, such as food and shelter, which in turn attracts a larger and more diverse set of species from almost all groups. For those who venture to explore the Bocage, this is a landscape of unique beauty that provides walks in a rural environment with an unmistakable smell of the sea due to the proximity of the Ria de Aveiro and the beaches, and which is proof of the positive impact that traditional rural spaces can have on biodiversity.
